More than 26,000 people have paraded through Edinburgh Cathedral to say a final farewell to Queen Elizabeth II, in a 24-hour funeral chapel prior to the coffin’s transfer to London this Tuesday afternoon.
The Scottish Government has reported on Twitter the closure of the access queue, to prevent the crowd from continuing to crowd before the departure of the funeral procession. “More than 26,000 people have already had a chance to show their respect,” it said.
The vigil started in the presence of King Charles III and other children of the late monarch and, throughout the night, the trickle of attendees has been constant. The authorities estimated in 45 minutes the waiting time to access the interior of the temple on Tuesday morning, according to the BBC.
