Donald Trump indicted for ‘hush money’ payments -.

A grand jury has voted to indict Donald Trump for a payment he made to adult film star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 general election. This is the first time a former U.S. president has ever been criminally charged.

A statement from the Manhattan District Attorney’s spokesman reads: “Tonight we contacted Mr. Trump’s attorney to coordinate his surrender to the Manhattan DA’s office for a Supreme Court arraignment, which remains under seal. Guidance will be given when the arraignment date is selected.”

Trump is expected to surrender by the end of the week. He will be photographed and processed for a felony arrest, which is likely to cause some form of pushback from his supporters. New York police have been informed of and prepared for “unusual disorder” when Trump is brought in.

This is likely to have a huge effect on Trump’s campaign for the presidency in 2024. In response, Trump has attacked the left, claiming that this is a political move. “I believe this witch hunt will backfire enormously on Joe Biden.” he said. “Our movement and our party – united and strong – will first defeat Alvin Bragg, and then we will defeat Joe Biden.”

Top Republicans also support Trump, calling the indictment a “unprecedented abuse of power”.
