Discord’s CEO is stepping down and will be replaced by ex-Activision Blizzard King director -.

Discord is about to go through a pretty big leadership change, as the social platform has revealed that co-founder and CEO with a long track record Jason Citron is stepping down from his key role and letting an ex Activision Blizzard King executive take over instead.

As confirmed in a press release, it is noted that Humam Sakhnini will become Discord’s new CEO, with Sahknini also joining the company’s board of directors, which will still see Citron as a member. It is noted that Citron will also help Sahknini in his new role as an advisor to the CEO in the future.

Speaking about leaving the CEO position, Citron stated: “Building Discord over the past decade has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. From the very beginning, our mission has been to bring people together around games. It is a mission to which I have dedicated my career, and I am convinced that passing the torch to Humam is the right evolution for Discord’s future. His deep expertise in the gaming industry and proven track record in scaling businesses, while fostering genuine friendships through gaming and shared experiences, positions us perfectly for our next phase of growth. I believe this transition will accelerate our momentum and unlock even more opportunities for Discord, our consumers, partners and the overall gaming ecosystem in the coming years.”
