Made by MediaTek using the 5nm manufacturing process, Dimensity 8100 could be the equivalent of Snapdragon 888+, the refresh version of the top of the range Qualcomm launched last year.
While the focus is on high-end products, the real battle is for high-performance solutions, which actually bring in the highest sales. This includes Dimensity 8100, a 5nm chipset equipped with no less than four Cortex-A78 cores at 2.85 GHz, followed by four other Cortex-A55 cores optimized for efficiency.
Although rumors so far do not confirm the GPU model used, the performance stated in the GFX Bench ES 3.0 Manhattan test points in the direction of an equivalent Adreno 660 solution, the core found on SD888 and 888+ solutions.
Completing the recipe for a high-performance solution, fine Dimensity 8100 with support for LPDDR5 memory chips and NAND UFS 3.1 storage, the same found on high-end phones.
Given that the slightly lower version, Dimensity 8000, has just been officially announced and cannot yet be tested on any commercial product, we can assume that the 8100 revision is ready for the second half of the year, by selecting the most successful of the chips prepared for the first launch wave.
