Today, KOEI TECMO Europe and developer Kou Shibusawa revealed the use of Province War tactics and castle support in the upcoming tactical strategy game, NOBUNAGA’S AMBITION: Awakening. The 16th installment in Kou Shibusawa’s historical simulation franchise, NOBUNAGA’S AMBITION: Awakening combines military power with political diplomacy in a quest to conquer the Warring States of Japan. The title will be available digitally on July 20, 2023 and is currently in development for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC Windows via Steam.

In NOBUNAGA’S AMBITION: Awakening, players will experience the chaotic period of the War States of Japan by taking on the role of daimyō – a powerful Japanese feudal lord and landowner. As players progress and conquer larger and larger parts of the map, their tactics expand through cooperation between daimyō and provinces. Here, a regent, the leader of a province, will present Province War tactics, with different scenarios playing out depending on the regent’s skill. Tactics include: joint offensives, where all troops march to the same target as the daimyō province; sprawling attacks, where provinces attack multiple castles of the same enemy clan at the same time; reinforcement, where troops in the rear send soldiers to the allied units at the front; and diversion, where troops march near enemy borders to lure them out of their castles, creating opportunities for attacks by allied units. With so many tactics to choose from, it is essential that players choose their regiments wisely to outwit enemy forces!
