A child has died this Sunday after being run over by a light aircraft that went off the runway during takeoff at Santa Marta Airport, in northern Colombia. Three other people were injured.
The pilot lost control of the plane, which overcame the airport’s perimeter fences and crashed into a tree on the beach, where there were tourists and vendors, according to Colombian broadcaster RTVC.
The vehicle was a Cirrus Vision SF50 G2 aircraft with registration HK-5342G belonging to Helistar Colombia. On board were two crew members and four passengers.
Authorities have also reported three injured persons who have been transported to the nearest hospital. The deceased minor was next to the tree where the plane crashed.
