Capcom appears to be working on a major upgrade for their RE engine, it has been used in several capcom titles, including Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, Monster Hunter Rise, and most recently in Resident Evil 4. Spotted by Okami Games on Twitter, a new video talks about a revamped engine.
The newest version of the Engine, called REX Engine, is still in development though. But it will use dfeatures we already know from Capcom titles, which made it look better and better. REX Enginge also hopes to take advantage of newer technologies.
According to the video, new techniques and features will be added to RE enginge, although it will be done in stages. Some techniques are called RERuntime, REDox, and REAssetStream.
REX Engine will include all previous features of RE Engine while adding support for new technologies and handling the growing size of assets more efficiently.
The video is mostly intended for developers but this was an interesting little tidbit at the end. pic.twitter.com/2Fb88i2lMA
