Bugatti has once again announced a very unique and rare version of one of its hypercars. Known as the Chiron Super Sport ‘Golden Era’, this car was designed to reflect and honor the history and intricate engineering of the automobile brand.
The announcement release for the car notes that this “probably the most demanding piece of custom personalization work” is what Bugatti has ever worked on, and that the car only came about because a customer wanted to celebrate the milestone moment that was the launch of the Chiron Super Sport and its powerful W16 engine.
About the car, Bugatti design director, Achim Anscheidt, said: “A very important customer came to us and during our conversations he expressed his belief that the Chiron Super Sport and its W16 engine represented a milestone in the world of automobiles. He wanted to do something unique to celebrate.”
Anscheidt continued: “We looked through Bugatti’s history to find some of these historic moments, including the times of Ettore Bugatti, Jean Bugatti and Roland Bugatti, which really marked the first golden era for the brand. And then, of course, the modern incarnation of Bugatti from 1987, picking out the icons of this era that went on to define the Bugatti brand.
“Our team proposed a concept with 45 sketches of the brand’s icons that would be hand-drawn directly onto the car itself, and the owner immediately fell in love with the idea. The implementation may sound quite simple, but achieving a perfect finish, and one that would stand the test of time, required more patience and craftsmanship than you could ever imagine. “
In all, the Golden Era version of the car has 26 hand-drawn sketches on the passenger side and another 19 on the driver’s side. Each sketch is meant to represent a Bugatti car from the past, including the Type 41 Royale, the EB110, the Veyron and the regular Chiron. It is said that the sketches took more than 400 hours to complete.
Since this is a commissioned car, there was no mention of the price of the vehicle.
