The week gets off to a slow start in terms of fundraising in the blockchain sector. American Bequest Finance appears to be the first project to complete a financing round.
On Tuesday, the San Francisco-based startup announced a 2.75 million financing round of dollars led by New York VC Nyca Partners.
The company aims to streamline the transfer of digital assetsincluding cryptocurrencies, within the framework of estates. Its aim is to offer a solution that will enable legal professionals to easily manage this type of asset without the need for technical know-how.
Bequest will lead this revolution in the multi-trillion dollar trusts and estates industry by creating non-depository distribution rails to support legal processes for digital assets,” trumpets the startup in a release.
The solution designed by Bequest supports digital assets such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, as well as e-mail, photo and video content.
“Bequest Finance has created an easy-to-use tool for trust and estate attorneys to enable their clients to transfer not only digital cryptobut in the future, any password-protected digital asset,” commented Hans Morris, Director of Nyca Partners.
As cryptocurrencies are lost forever every year after the death of their owner, digital legacy solutions are beginning to emerge.
Last year, Solal Tech, a French startup also developing a solution for bequeathing digital assets, was also raising capital.
