Audi electrified the NSU Prinz 4 -.

Audi marked 150 years of its Neckarsulm site by tasking a group of student engineers with the task of electrifying the 1971 NSU Prinz 4. The project resulted in the team taking powertrain components from the Audi e-tron and Audi Q7 TFSI e quattro and using them to modernize and equip the 1970s vehicle with a ” new high-voltage heart”.

The end result is the EP4, a very cool-looking car powered by a 240-hp electric motor. Because this is an electric car, the chassis has shed its fuel tank and carburetor funnels to make room for an electric power plant and several new cooling solutions.

To add to this and make the car look sporty, several 3D printed parts have been added to the body and the interior has been specially designed to be minimalist and reflect a racing theme.

The sad thing is that this car will not be sold commercially, but this has not changed the fact that it has seemingly impressed the buyer at the company, as Audi’s board member for human resources, Xavier Ros, stated that “Projects like this show that our company has a strong future thanks to our young talent.”
