Asus announced back in August the start of the beta testing program for Android 13, with the new version of Android also coming to users in official release, in order of priority.
First on the list is the Zenfone 9, the flagship model released in July we can get the official Android 13 firmware any time now. Next on the priority list are the ROG Phone series, starting with the ROG Phone 6D, 6D Ultimate, ROG Phone 6 and 6 Pro, ROG Phone 5 and 5s.
Unfortunately, those who bought last year’s Zenfone 8 will have to wait until at least January 2023. Also early next year, most of the ROG Phone series will receive the update, except for the ROG Phone 5s series which will receive the Android 13 update in the spring.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the updates won’t roll out to all regions of the world at once. For example, while Android 13 firmware for the Zenfone 9 is expected in December, availability could be delayed by optimizations applied by various mobile operators. At the same time, possible bugs or newly discovered security issues could delay updates for everyone.
