The launch event for the new iPhone and Apple Watch models proved to be a real success as the new models are well received by fans. Apple is expecting record sales for these series, but the rest of the company’s devices may not get as much attention in 2022. A new event dedicated to Mac computers, MacBook Pro laptops and iPad tablets was expected, but unofficial unconfirmed information suggests that the new products will be announced in a simple press release.
Apple could unveil new MacBook Pros with M2 Pro and Max in a simple press release
Mark Gurman, a Bloomberg editor who specializes in Apple’s business, suggests that we won’t get another unveiling event from Apple in 2022. Since the news is mostly on the inside, with new Mac computers and new iPads getting new chips and few changes to the outside, they will be announced directly on the company’s website, and some publications will be called for a private event before the announcement to see the devices live.
There is, however, a long list of models that will be updated in the fall, according to Gurman, including the iPad Pro tablets, which will apparently retain last year’s design and make the switch from M1 to M2 processors, the Mac Mini will get M2 and M2 Pro processors, while the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models could get even more powerful chips than they do now: the M2 Pro and M2 Max. A bigger but not hugely significant upgrade will also get the base iPad model, the iPad 10, which is expected to get an Apple A14 chip and a straight-edged design like the rest of the series. It could, however, keep the smaller screen and TouchID-enabled Home button.
Also expected with these new devices are the new iPadOS 16.1 and macOS Monterey operating systems, both of which introduce Stage Manager, a new method of organizing windows on the screen for improved multitasking.
