Alan Wake 2 gets free DLC, more details after launch – That’s Gaming

We’re halfway through October, with the heaviest hitters launching in the coming weeks. That includes Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake 2, which launches on Oct. 27 (after a delay to avoid competing with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2). It promises more than 20 hours of gameplay, but there will also be two expansions after launch.

That’s not all, as the survival horror title will also receive free DLC, according to Remedy’s creative director Sam Lake. At EGX Theatre (transcript via MP1st), Lake said, “We’ve been talking about cool stuff, with music and with live action. We haven’t really gone very far in explaining the DLC material. Sure, we mentioned the actual larger paid DLCs, Night Springs, which might be something that rings bells, and the Lake House.

“But in addition to that, we have free DLC drops coming up. They’re pretty significant, too, and I expect we’ll go into more detail pretty soon after the game’s release. But all of that will be free for everyone who gets the game.”

What this free DLC might be remains to be seen, but perhaps it will be similar to Control, the developer’s supernatural third-person shooter. Protagonist Jesse Faden got new costumes and the rogue-like Expeditions mode for free, while the two story expansions, The Foundation and AWE, were paid for.

Alan Wake 2 will launch next week for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC via the Epic Games Store. It is a digital-only release, costing €60 on consoles and €50 on PC, a strategy that allows for more time to polish the game, said game director Kyle Rowley.
