Although it owes its notoriety to its high-end phone offerings, the truth is that most of Xiaomi’s sales come from phones in the low-cost to mid-range range, where the Xiaomi 12T Pro falls.
According to information obtained from sources close to the company, Xiaomi has prepared new T model with features beyond expectations.
The first argument would be the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, more powerful than the one found on current generation flagship phones. The second trump card would be the new 200MP camera sensor provided by Samsung, much more attractive than the 108MP solution shipped on last year’s generation phones. As before a, the promise of incredible detail comes with the proviso of ideal lighting conditions, available in the middle of the day, or at the beach. For the rest of the situations there’s pixel binning technology, which turns a 200MP camera into a 25MP one, emulating the functionality of a sensor with fewer but equally large pixels. Identified by the model name Sony IMX989, the photo sensor assigned to the main camera would be coupled with a lens system optimised by German company Leica specialists, supporting a higher quality of the resulting pictures.
Apart from the next-generation Qualcomm chipset, the Xiaomi 12T Pro is also expected to feature a 120Hz display, at least 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB internal storage with UFS 3.1 format.
It remains to be seen how long it will take before Xiaomi launches the new 12T Pro for global markets, with the strategy used so far aiming to launch for Chinese markets first, with European expansion coming a few months later.
