Dacia continues to be on the wave, despite the problems of the Mioveni manufacturer

Dacia is facing a number of problems in the country, after having to interrupt several times the production of the various production centers it manages in Mioveni. The good news is that demand is not suffering.

The most recent victory for Dacia was in Germany, a country that until recently was dominated only by Volkswagen, Audi, BMW and Mercedes. Meanwhile, the tastes of the Germans have diversified. Otherwise, an increase of no less than 35% in sales for the Mioveni manufacturer cannot be explained, after the first quarter of 2022.

For more than a year, the German car industry has been on a downward trend, both due to the semiconductor crisis and the pandemic. As a reference, in March alone, the car market in the largest European market contracted by 17.5%, to a volume of 241,330 registered cars. At the end of the first quarter, the overall decrease compared to the same period last year was 4.6%.

Surprisingly, the biggest decreases on the sales side were recorded even by the German manufacturer. Volkswagen lost 31.8% of sales, BMW – 15.5%, Mercedes – 26%, and Audi – 2.2%. Opel lost 37.8% of sales in the same period last year.

The only exceptions to this worrying trend were Tesla, Polestar and several Asian brands, such as Subaru, Lexus, Mitsubishi, Kia and Mazda. On the other hand, those companies had low sales in Germany anyway.

Returning to Dacia, however, the Romanian company registers the third consecutive month of growth on the German market, with a volume of 4530 units registered in March and an increase of 35.1% compared to a year ago. For the entire quarter, we are talking about 12,560 registered units. The market share of Romanians, of only 1.9%, is not incredibly high, but the good trend is more important than the actual value.
