Snapdragon 7, the 4nm successor to the SD 778G, receives unofficial specifications

Snapdragon 7 is the most affordable version of the famous Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, made using the same 4nm manufacturing process and intended for higher mid-range devices.

Launched in May last year, the Snapdragon 778G received only a minor upgrade, in the form of the Snapdragon 778G Plus 5G version, released in October. Expected no later than next month, the Snapdragon 7 replacement should offer a much more consistent leap in performance, allowing the use of more efficient manufacturing technology and other improvements to the processor architecture.

According to the unofficial list of specifications revealed by Digital Chat Station, a well-known source in China, the new chipset has an octa-core CPU consisting of four ARM Cortex-A710 cores at 2.36GHz and four Cortex-A510 cores, optimized for efficiency and set to 1.8GHz. The graphics acceleration is left to a GPU of the Adreno 662 series, with superior performance to the Adreon 660 solution found in the more expensive but older chipset, Snapdragon 888.
