Good news, bad news: the famous movie “Eraser” will have a reboot, but unfortunately, the iconic Arnold Schwarzenegger will be missing from the new cast.
The reboot of the cult film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, “Eraser” has released its first official trailer, which can be seen in the footer of this article. The 1996 action thriller starred Schwarzenegger as John Kruger, an American agent whose specialty is “erasing” the identity of witnesses, staging their deaths and thus getting them out of danger.
The original, directed by Chuck Russell (also responsible for “The Mask”), was a huge hit in theaters, but did not enjoy as much critical acclaim at the time.
“Eraser: Reborn” has a first trailer
The official YouTube channel of Warner Bros. has released the official trailer for “Eraser: Reborn”. Although Arnie is no longer part of the equation, this new film seems to follow the original story. The 90-second teaser mimics all the scenes made famous by Arnold Schwarzenegger, including gunfire, chase scenes, and free fights, with fists thrown everywhere. However, the most important thing is missing: Arnold.
The trailer also reveals a series of new characters from the film: Mason Pollard, played by Dominic Sherwood (Arnold’s replacement), Jacky Lai as Rina Kimura, McKinley Belcher III as Paul Whitlock and Eddie Ramos as the gangster Sugar Jax.
So far, not much is known about this project, other than that it will be directed by John Pogue (known to the public for “The Quiet Ones” and “Deep Blue Sea 3”). It is also known that the script will be provided by Michael Weiss (“Jarhead3: The Siege”).
“Eraser: Reborn” will be available in digital format, namely on Blu-ray, but also on DVD, starting June 7, 2022. Moreover, the film will be streamed on HBO Max, sometime in the fall this year.
