MADRID, March 15. (Royals Blue) –

British authorities announced on Tuesday the imposition of a new package of sanctions against 370 individuals and entities linked to Russia for the invasion of Ukraine.

The Foreign Minister, Liz Truss, has indicated that the objective of the measures are people “close to President (Vladimir) Putin)” and has indicated that the new sanctions seek to exert greater pressure on people close to the Russian Government, from large oligarchs to cabinet members.

Thus, on the list are the founder of Alfa Bank, Mijail Fridman, the co-founder of LetterOne, Petr Aven, and former president Dimitri Medvedev, as well as Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Kremlin spokesman Dimitri Peskov, and the Foreign spokeswoman, Maria Zajarova.

In total, the list includes 370 Russians and Belarusians, adding to more than 1,000 people who had already been subject to similar sanctions since Russia began the invasion of Ukrainian territory on February 24.

The sanctioned people will not be able to travel to the United Kingdom and their assets and properties will be immediately frozen in the country, according to Downing Street in a statement in which it has called the round of sanctions “historic”.

“We are going further and further in targeting Putin’s allies, from the biggest oligarchs to the prime minister and top government propagandists, who orchestrate the lies and disinformation,” Truss said. “We will bring them to justice for being complicit in Russia’s crimes in Ukraine,” he said.

In this sense, he pointed out that the United Kingdom continues to cooperate with its allies to “exercise greater pressure on Putin and cut the funds that Russia allocates to its war machine.”

“The UK will continue to put pressure on the Russian economy in the coming days as the government uses all necessary powers to address what is the biggest crisis in Europe since the Second World War,” he insisted.
