T1 has realized his dream of winning three in a row by beating LCK rival KT Rolster 3-2.in the League of Legends 2025 Worlds grand final. With this third consecutive title, T1 also maintains its lead in the Telecom War, a 13-year rivalry between the two finalists.
T1 and KT Rolster (KT) represent South Korea’s leading telecommunications companies, SK Telecom and KT Corporation. For more than a decade and in multiple esports titles, the two organizations have competed for regional glory. But while one has cemented an international legacy in League of Legends (LoL) esports, the other has repeatedly been left in the shadows. Of the 70 total LoL battles fought in the Telecom War, no fewer than 53 ended in T1’s favor.
After a season full of ups and downs and entering World 2025 as the two lowest ranked teams in the LCK, neither was the favorite to lift the Summoner’s Cup this year. However, the two LoL veterans staged their own miraculous comebacks to take Telecom War to a new level in the grand final.
The world showdown in Chengdu, China, began with a strong start by KT. However, T1 won two decisive bouts in the middle of the game to turn the tide and secure the first game.
The second game witnessed many back-and-forth skirmishes. Despite T1’s efforts to escalate, KT’s bdd put in an impressive performance with Mel to help his team even the score. In the third game, T1 suffered greatly at the hands of Cuzz with Mundo. Lacking the damage needed to break through KT’s tank, T1 could only watch as dragons, barons, and eventually his own nexus fell to the enemy.
At the match point, KT had to face a first-choice Kalista and Faker’s Anivia. In addition, thanks to Oner’s critical Smites, T1 took all neutral targets and took the series to game five. For the final game, T1 selected a lethal combination of Galio and Camille. Although a couple of mistakes by the LCK giant almost allowed KT to come back, T1 finally emerged victorious from the final team fights. As a result, T1 remains nearly undefeated in the Telecom War, as the organization lifts its sixth trophy.
Uzi, a member of the 2025 Hall of Legends, had the honor of presenting the award. MVP of this year’s World Cup to T1’s ADC, Gumayushi.
This year has been very difficult for me. Every year has been full of challenges and I’ve always had to prove myself. You know, I’ve been the icon of someone who always has to prove himself, but this year has been different because, finally, I feel like I’ve proven myself. And I’m very happy that I’ve been able to prove myself. I can say with certainty that I am the best AD Carry in the world.
