Riot Games has announced that VALORANT Ascension Americas 2025the promotional tournament for the region, will return to São Paulo, Brazil. The tier 2 competition will take place in October and will feature a $100,000 prize pool shared among the participating teams. Dates and entry details will be confirmed at a later date.
Compared to previous years, this year’s VALORANT Ascension Americas tournament will have an adjusted format. This is due to the evaluation process of the two teams previously promoted to the VCT Ascension: G2 Esports and 2GAME Esports. Both will be evaluated according to performance-based criteria. Following this process, the teams will either extend their place in the VCT Americas, compete in Ascension to defend it or be relegated back to the Challengers League.
Ascension Tournament
The new VALORANT Ascension tournament will have a total of eight teams instead of sixand will have a play-in phase to cover the guest team scenarios. The Challengers League third seeds from Brazil (BR), Latin America (LATAM) and North America (NA) will face off in a single playoff to determine which teams advance. The playoff phase, however, will only take place if one or no invited teams compete in Ascension.
The advancing team(s) will then join the other six Challenger teams (the top two seeds from BR, LATAM and NA) to face off in a Swiss phase, with the top four teams qualifying for the next phase. All matches will be best-of-three. In the playoffs, the remaining four teams will face each other in a best-of-three, double-elimination bracket, except for the lower-round final and the grand final, which will be best-of-five.
