The great fighting video game event, Evolution Championship Series (EVO)has unveiled the titles that will be present at its 2025 edition in France. Six will be presentStreet Fighter 6, Tekken 8, Guilty Gear -Strive-, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising and FATAL FURY: City of Wolves.
It is worth noting that Mortal Kombat 1, a fighting video game developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Games, was not named as one of the participating titles at the event. This came as a surprise to many commentators, as Mortal Kombat appeared in the 2023 edition. Once again, Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros will also not be present at the tournament.
The announcement took place at the Paris Games Week in France on October 27, where Evo also introduced Guilty Gear -Strive- producer Ken Miyauchi to talk about the video game and an exhibition match about Dragon Ball FighterZ.
While Mortal Kombat was left out, fan favorites like Street Fighter and Tekken remain. FATAL FURY: City of Wolves, a title that has yet to be released and will be available to the public in April 2025, will be present at Evo France 2025. Once again, Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros will also not be present at the tournament.
This year’s Evo event will be held in Nice, making it the first tournament of its kind to take place in Europe.
