Meta unveils its first true augmented reality glasses -.

Meta has been properly exploring the augmented reality space for quite some time. For the most part, this was in the form of Project Nazare, which now has an official name and has been presented to the world.

It will now be called Orion, and as Meta claims, it is said to be the “most advanced AR glasses ever made.” Not that there is currently much competition in this space, but still for anyone interested in what these glasses can do, we are told they are “combines the look and feel of ordinary glasses with the immersive capabilities of augmented reality.” and that they use holographic displays to place 2D and 3D content wherever you want, use contextual AI to sense and understand the world around you, and have a lightweight design that makes them perfect for indoor and outdoor use.

It does not yet appear that Meta has plans to launch Orion on a large scale, as it is noted that the prototype model is being given to Meta employees and select others to learn more and continue to refine them leading up to the debut of a line of AR glasses for consumers eventually. What Meta has promised is that “you can expect new devices from us in the coming years that build on our R&D efforts. Orion is not just a window into the future – it is a glimpse into the very real possibilities that are within reach today.”

Would you buy Orion glasses if they were available?
