We knew before the launch of Starfield that the first expansion would be called “Shattered Space,” and in December developer Bethesda Game Studios confirmed it would launch sometime in 2024, with new locations, equipment, story content and more. And interestingly, it looks like it could be officially unveiled soon.
Or, at least, that’s what updates to the game’s Steam backend seem to suggest. A user on Reddit noted that Starfield’s SteamDB page shows that Bethesda Game Studios recently added an “unknown app” to the game’s DLC section. Remarkably, the section contains only two other files, one for the game’s Premium Edition upgrade, and one for pre-orders.
Whether this means that Shattered Space will be revealed in the not-too-distant future remains to be seen, but it certainly appears that work is being stepped up behind the scenes.
2024 is poised to bring numerous other additions and improvements to Bethesda’s spacefaring RPG, including new gameplay features, shipbuilding options, propulsion methods and more. Full mod support will also arrive this year.
Starfield is available on Xbox Series X/S and PC.
