Biden transfers US support to the king of Saudi Arabia in the face of Houthi attacks

MADRID, Feb. 9 (Royals Blue) –

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, spoke this Wednesday with the King of Saudi Arabia, Salmán bin Abdulaziz al Saud, to whom he has transferred his support for the defense of the Saudi people and territory against attacks by the Houthi militia.

The US Administration has directly accused Iran of “facilitating” these attacks against “civilian targets” in Saudi Arabia, and has highlighted its collaboration with international efforts, led by the United Nations, to end the war in Yemen.

“The President has signaled his commitment to ensuring that Iran can never obtain a nuclear weapon and has briefed the King on ongoing multilateral talks to reinstate restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program,” the White House said in a statement.

Finally, he has insisted on continuing to be “closely coordinated” over the coming weeks in relation to the situation in both the Middle East and Eastern Europe, and has extolled his commitment to “guarantee the stability of world energy supplies”.

The war in Yemen pits the internationally recognized government, headed by President Abdo Rabbu Mansur Hadi, and supported by the aforementioned international coalition led by Riyadh, against the Huthis, backed by Iran.

The conflict has worsened on several fronts in recent months despite international mediation efforts, in a war that has caused what is the world’s largest humanitarian crisis.
