The Day Before Servers Quit on Jan. 22 – That’s Gaming

With developer Fntastic ceasing operations just days after the release of The Day Before, publisher MyTona has announced that the servers will be shut down on Jan. 22, 2024.

The publisher will continue to offer refunds for Steam players, noting that the platform is “proactively” refunding. Although it extended its gratitude to players, it revealed that there was no choice but to discontinue the project due to the lack of a development team.

The Day Before launched on Dec. 7 for PC via Steam Early Access. It experienced multiple delays over the years, from the switch to Unreal Engine 5 to a trademark dispute (before the developer revealed that a delay was planned before it came forward). Recent gameplay reveals were also met with skepticism.

At launch, it immediately received an “Overwhelmingly Negative” rating on the platform, with many pointing out the lack of VoIP, vaulting, melee attacks and more. Even though it was marketed as an open-world survival MMO, it is an extraction shooter (and not even an acceptable one).
