LEGO 2K Drive’s physical edition comes with a download code instead of a cartridge – That’s Gaming

Physical releases on the Nintendo Switch do not always go the way they should, and all too often retail versions of games on the platform do not become physical at all, replacing a game cartridge with a download code of the game in question. Unfortunately, another fairly large release will go this way.

As reported by Nintendo Everything, retail listings for the retail version of LEGO 2K Drive on the Nintendo Switch have begun, and the cover image on the listings (see below) confirms that the retail version will come with a download code for the game rather than an actual cartridge.

According to the Switch eShop, the file size of LEGO 2K Drive on the Switch will be about 4.5 GB, so one would think the size would not have been an issue with a physical release. Why it was decided to use download codes instead of cartridges with the retail version is anyone’s guess.

LEGO 2K Drive will be released on May 19 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
