The launch of a promising new IP that offers something new and different is always exciting, and it seems Ascendant Studios is doing just that with the upcoming Immortals of Aveum. A rare example of a AAA indie title, the magical first-person shooter promises a lengthy and cinematic single-player experience – and it’s an idea the developer seems to have a lot of confidence in even in the long run.
In a recent interview with The Loadout, game director and CEO of Ascendant Studios, Bret Robbins, said that the developer is not looking at Immortals of Aveum as “a one-player game,” but instead wants it to be “a franchise and something that can be expanded in many different directions.”
Whether that takes the form of a dedicated multiplayer game, a direct sequel or perhaps a completely different story set in the same universe is not yet clear, but it certainly seems that no ideas have been ruled out at the studio.
“I think all of the above are possible,” Robbins said. “I’ve never stopped working on a game that I didn’t want to make a better version of immediately.”
Immortals of Aveum will be released on July 20 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
