THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE has broken several records in the Netherlands since the film opened on Thursday, April 6 last. To date, it is the film with the best opening day of 2023 and the best opening day and weekend for a video game film adaptation ever. In addition, it is the best-opening film and biggest Friday result of all Illumination and Universal animated films. THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE opened after The Lion King even the best opening day ever for an animated film, followed by The Secret Life Of Pets. The film is playing in 143 cinemas and has now attracted 142,000 visitors. Including previews on Wednesday, April 5, the film has currently raised a total of €1,558,000 in the Netherlands.

The film has also broken many records internationally. THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE has so far raised more than $87 million in the United States. Illumination and Nintendo release new animated film based on the world
of Super Mario Bros. The lead roles will be voiced by Chris Pratt (Mario), Anya Taylor-Joy (Princess Peach), Charlie Day (Luigi) and Jack Black (Bowser), among others.
