The Taliban unveiled the Mada 9, Afghanistan’s first “supercar”. The car would become an EV in the future

The Taliban regime in Afghanistan has unveiled something few people expected: a supercar called the Mada 9.

The car was developed, over a five-year period, by a company called Entop in partnership with a technology institute in Kabul.

Although it looks like a supercar, the vehicle can’t compare to the McLaren F1 or Rimac Nevera. The model uses a modified 2000 Toyota Corolla engine. According to its creators, the vehicle can reach “higher speeds”.

A video clip of the car was posted on Twitter by Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Taliban regime.

The Mada 9 would become an electric car. But this could be just a pipe dream for its creators. Such a transition is difficult even for traditional car companies.

The car’s designer, Mohammad Riza Ahmadi, hopes it will become “a beacon” for the country, which is struggling on almost every front. These have worsened since the Taliban took power in August 2021. In just one year, the economy has shrunk by 20-30%, according to sources.

The car’s technical specifications have not yet been released. We don’t know how fast it can go from 0 to 60 mph.
