Xiaomi prepares to launch Redmi 11A, likely to be best-selling Android phone in 2022

Redmi A phones are some of the best-selling models in the world every year. Xiaomi manages time and time again to create cheap, well-equipped phones that seem to be extremely popular especially in Asia, where low price is probably the most important consideration when choosing a phone. The TENAA database, which tests electronics for approval in China, has now revealed the first images and hardware specs of the Redmi 11A, the model that will most likely dominate the sales charts next year.

The Redmi 11A will feature some pretty powerful hardware for a “100-something” phone

TENAA lists Xiaomi’s Redmi 11A as model 22120RN86C. This is a mid-range model with a plastic construction similar to the Redmi 10A and 10C models. The phone integrates a large 6.7″ screen, but it only comes with HD resolution, i.e. 1,650 x 720 pixels. The phone is also heavy, even compared to many flagships: 195 grams.

However, with its large size and heavy weight, there are added components that could ensure long battery life. It uses a 2 GHz octa-core processor, unspecified, but probably something with mid-range performance and low power consumption. Thus, the 5,000 mAh battery could power the phone for at least two days on a single charge.

Other interesting aspects are the hardware configurations, with 2, 4, 6 or 8 GB RAM, so a wide range of options, and variants with 32, 64, 128 and 256 GB internal storage. These suggest that the price between the cheapest and most expensive model will be very different. All models, however, will have a 50-megapixel camera on the back, a 5-megapixel camera on the front, and a fingerprint sensor on the back, somehow integrated into the camera island.

Base pricing is expected in the region of €100 or a little more, so there’s little we’ll be able to fault this model if it launches with all this integrated hardware.
