The right clearly wins Italian elections with Meloni in the lead, according to exit polls

The Italian right-wing parties have clearly imposed themselves in the legislative elections held this Sunday with a support of between 41 and 45 percent, far ahead of the left-wing parties, which would add between 25.5 and 29.5 percent of the votes, according to the exit poll of the RAI channel.

The most voted party would be Giorgia Meloni’s far-right Brothers of Italy (22-26 percent), while the League would get between 8.5 and 12.5 percent and Forza Italia would take between 6 and 8 percent of the vote.

If these results are confirmed, the leader of Brothers of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, emerges as the clear candidate for prime minister, a post never held by a woman in Italy. No one could question her leadership, as her party has garnered more support than her two main allies combined.

The first to react was League leader Matteo Salvini, who stressed that the right-wing parties have “a clear advantage.” “The center-right has a clear advantage both in the House and in the Senate! It will be a long night, but I want to thank them already,” Salvini posted on Twitter.

The center-left would be led by the Democratic Party (17-21 percent), followed by the 5 Star Movement (13.5-17.5 percent) and the Third Pole (6.5-8.5 percent).

With these data, Brothers of Italy, League, Force Italy and We Moderates, the four parties of the more than likely right-wing coalition, will obtain between 227 and 257 of the 400 seats in the Chamber of Deputies and would guarantee themselves a comfortable parliamentary majority.

The center-left (Democratic Party, Green and Left Alliance and + Europe) would add between 78 and 98 seats and the Five Star Movement between 36 and 56 and the Third Pole (Action and Italia Viva) between 15 and 25 seats. Italexit would not achieve representation.

In the Senate the right would win between 111 and 131 of the 200 seats, followed by the center-left (33-53), the Five Star Movement (14-34) and the Third Pole (4-12). The Istant Quorum-SkyTg24 exit polls predict a similar result.

As for the turnout, the drop already pointed out by the partial data of 12.00 and 19.00 is confirmed and at 23.00 the turnout was 64.13 percent, while in 2018 it was 69.36 percent.
