Shortly after his arrest, the perpetrator of the attack has died from self-inflicted wounds
Police in Canada have arrested the prime suspect in last weekend’s multiple stabbings at several locations in the province of Saskatchewan that left ten people dead and 18 injured.
However, 30-year-old Myles Sanderson died shortly after his arrest from self-inflicted wounds, CBC News has learned.
The main suspect in the recent stabbing attack in Saskatchewan was arrested Wednesday afternoon and taken into police custody near the town of Rosthern, 130 kilometers southwest of the James Smith Cree Nation community, one of the locations where the attack took place, CBC News has learned.
At around 3 p.m. (local time) the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) issued an alert for the presence of a person armed with a knife traveling in a stolen white vehicle, last seen in Wakaw, about 90 kilometers northeast of Saskatoon.
Half an hour later, security forces caught up with the vehicle and arrested and took into custody Sanderson, who had been wanted since last Sunday, when he and his brother — found dead on Sunday — Damien Sanderson, 31, attacked dozens of people at several locations in central Canada, according to ‘The Globe and Mail’.
It is unknown at this time whether Myles injured himself during the chase and arrest or shortly before.
