The Pixel 7 has been officially confirmed since earlier this summer, with the better-equipped Pixel 7 Pro version only now appearing in a short unboxing video dug up on the internet by a Bangladeshi online store.
Very close to its official launch, the Pixel 7 Pro has already arrived in stock at retail retailers, and it’s almost inevitable that one of them will use Google’s new flagship to do a little advertising.
In this case, we’re dealing with the black cased version of the phone, straight out of retail packaging. The prototype stage is also confirmed by the display of the Google logo, indicating the presence of an official firmware release.
Like its Pixel 6 Pro predecessor, the new Pro received a screen with horizontally curved edges. Aiming to improve ergonomics, Google has pretty much extended the screen over the edges of the casing, it remains to be seen if the choice will have unintended consequences on shock resistance. For example, the rival Galaxy S22 Ultra is known for the fragility induced precisely by using a screen with strongly curved edges on the side.
As for the retail package contents, the higher price of the phone doesn’t cover the AC adapter, with Google only shipping the USB-C cable and a USB-C to USB-A adapter (Quick Switch Adapter). Also for environmental considerations, the packaging made from partially recycled paper contains only a quick guide with instructions for use, even substituting a paper screen protector.
Google will launch the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro series in October, with prices expected to be on par with the Pixel 6 series at $599 for the “standard” model and $899 for the Pro version.
