While the OnePlus 10T isn’t the official successor to the 10 Pro, the new model resembles the more expensive version in at least one key respect.
It’s unclear whether it’s the lower price, or OnePlus engineers simply chose to ignore the shortcomings exhibited in the more expensive version, but the OnePlus 10T also fails the famous bend test, held on the YouTube channel JerryRigEverything.
The latest extreme endurance test clip is dedicated to the OnePlus 10T, the brand’s new budget model for 2022. While initially the tests start promisingly, with OnePlus’ newest phone demonstrating average scratch protection, the bend test ends spectacularly with the phone breaking in two. Interestingly, the breakage area is the same as on the OnePlus 10 Pro, just below the camera island. Clearly, the two products have internal, structural similarities that carry over to the exterior.
Even though they’re made of glass and metal, like many of the sturdier phones on the market, both the OnePlus 10 Pro and the newly released version, the 10T, don’t seem to be designed to withstand abuse. The phone actually breaks if you put pressure on it, and is absolutely unbreakable in the process. So if you keep the phone in your back pocket and sit on it, you might get a nasty surprise.
