Dungeons & Dragons trailer: starring Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page and Hugh Grant

San Diego Comic-Con 2022 kicked off with a trailer for Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, and it really looks promising.

The film features an all-star cast, including Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page and Hugh Grant, according to Variety. The film blends action, fantasy, comedy and some of D&D’s most iconic monsters.

“A charming thief and a band of adventurers undertake an epic heist to recover a lost relic, but things go dangerously wrong when they run afoul of the wrong people,” the description reads.

“Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves brings the playful spirit of the legendary game to the big screen in a hilarious, action-packed adventure.”

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves to be released in 2023

The trailer features the dragons you’d expect, possibly including an ancient black dragon and an acid-breathing red dragon. We also see a Mimic disguised as a treasure chest, a Displacer Beast, as well as an Owl Bear – a returning beast from the original D&D game. As for realms and spells, there’s something that looks like Underdark, a Heat Metal spell, Dimension Door and more.

The film is produced and distributed by Paramount and Hasbro, which controls the rights to the game and recently acquired the popular D&D Beyond digital game toolkit. Hasbro is also working on other film and TV adaptations, including Transformers and My Little Pony.

The big screen adaptation of the famous iconic game created by E. Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson in 1974 boasts a star-studded cast: Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, King-Jean Page, Hugh Grant and Sophia Lillis. The stars were present at the SDCC panel for this film, along with producer Jeremy Latcham and writer-directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein.

British actor Hugh Grant, known from films such as Notting Hill (1999) and Love Actually (2003) plays the main villain in the big screen adaptation of the role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons.

“Dungeons &; Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” will be released in theaters on March 3, 2023.
