The Armed Forces of Ukraine said Tuesday that Russian forces are carrying out “forced mobilization measures” in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions because of the “irreparable losses” suffered as part of the fighting unleashed on February 24, when Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of the country.

“In connection with the huge and irreparable losses, there are measures of forced mobilization in the temporarily occupied territories in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions,” the General Staff of the Ukrainian Army has said on its account on the social network Facebook. This area includes the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk republics.

In this connection, he has stated that “the enemy is trying to create conditions for restarting the offensive in the direction of Sloviansk”, while stressing that the Ukrainian forces managed to repel an offensive in the vicinity of Husarivka. “The enemy carried out assaults near Spirne, unsuccessfully, so they withdrew. There are attempts to advance in the direction in Hrihorivka, where hostilities continue,” he has detailed.
