The real star of the Nothing Phone 2a, however, is its operating system, Nothing OS 2.5, which is based on Android 14 and will soon get Android 15. It’s minimalist, snappy and is very reminiscent of stock Androidwhich should particularly please purists and fans of Google’s Pixel series. However, Nothing OS goes one step further and offers its own accents that are unique on the market:

• Fluid operation: Nothing jerks, nothing stalls. Everything runs like butter, which is particularly appreciated by fans of a clean, fast Android interface.
• Glyph Interface: the absolute highlight. The LED strips on the back can be customized for specific contacts and notifications. This allows you to set a special ringtone and flashing pattern for your most important contacts – a nice gimmick that’s just fun.

In the evening or in situations with little light, it can sometimes be difficult to get noise-free and sharp images. A highlight is this Adjustable bokeh effect in portrait modewhich uses an aperture option to emphasize the subject more or less as desired.

The Nothing Phone 2a is a real hammer for this price – because few cell phones in this area feel so good and smooth.
