57 inches. 240Hz and 8K?!? This Samsung gaming monitor is the mother of all ultrawides

The predecessor of the Odyssey Neo G9 already caused a stir: with 49 inches, a sweeping 1000R curve, 240Hz and HDR2000 he set the bar high.

And yet Samsung has gone one step further in 2023! The new Odyssey Neo G9 grows to a stunning 57 inches. These are fixed 1.5 Meter Image diagonal and therefore about the same as an average teenager. Crazy! The monitor is therefore also celebrated on Reddit – more on that below.

But something has not only changed in terms of size: the resolution has increased from DQHD (5120 x 1440). Dual-4K (7680 x 2160 Pixel) – those are over 16.5 million pixels! Samsung cheekily advertises 8K – in width. Here is an overview of the technical data:

I originally became aware of the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 monitors through Reddit. Because that’s where it’s at Reddit-Sub /rultrawidemasterrace tons of posts about the craziest and biggest setups.

Essentially it’s about: Ultrawide is simply better – and more of it is always more! Some people exaggerate it a little, but what would Reddit be if it wasn’t also a little crazy?

4K times two: The Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 with an aspect ratio of 32:9 is a super ultrawide gaming monitor in a class of its own.

A gaming monitor like a cockpit

With the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 you are almost sitting in a cockpit. The strong 1000R curvature brings the corners of the screen so close that you feel like you’re being hugged. I can confirm it, I have the Neo G9 from 2021 myself.

This all-round curvature is for ultrawide screens of a certain size almost indispensable. Without this curvature, the outer edges often appear too far away and disrupt the natural viewing angle – a real mood killer.

Of course, with a screen of this size and resolution comes technical requirements. The Neo G9 in its new 57-inch version is literally crying out for one powerful graphics card. For maximum performance and image quality is one Nvidia RTX 4090 almost a mustbecause this can best handle the dual 4K resolution and the high Refresh rate of 240 Hz operate without interruptions. Anything less than that can reach its limits and you won’t experience the full potential of this monitor.
