After more than 21 years, Azeroth is finally getting something players have been asking for since vanilla: player housing. With the new The War Within-update 11.2.7, aka The Warning, Housing Early Access is now available to anyone who has Midnight owns. So after countless wars, time travel and even a trip to the afterlife, the Champions of Azeroth finally get a place that can truly feel like home.
Once you log in to the latest update, a short introductory quest begins that leads you to your first house in one of two faction neighborhoods. Each warband eventually gets two houses, one per neighborhood, and both are fully decoratable. Players immediately receive a welcome pack with hundreds of items to decorate their homes with. In addition, decorations are automatically unlocked based on quests and achievements from both current content and older expansions. Many of these rewards are retroactive, giving veterans an entire collection of furniture, trophies and themed decorations ready to go immediately.
That’s just the beginning, as WoW is being supplemented bit by bit with new housing rewards. Think drops from dungeons and raids, items from vendors, rewards from special events and even items you can craft. Housing will thus be woven into almost every activity in the game.
On March 3, when Midnight launches worldwide, the social part of housing goes live. That’s when neighborhood Endeavors open, collaborative neighborhood projects that give housing a social layer that players have been hoping for for years
