Nearly three years after filming began, the official trailer for They Cloned Tyrone has finally arrived, offering the first details on Jamie Foxx’s Netflix movie.
The film will focus on Fontaine, Yo-Yo, and Slick Charles, a trio who uncover a shadowy, government-orchestrated conspiracy happening right in their community.
John Boyega and Jamie Foxx lead the cast of They Cloned Tyrone as Fontaine and Slick Charles, along with Candyman, Teyonah Parris, J. Alphonse Nicholson, David Alan Grier, Robert Tinsley, Joshua Mikel and Austin Freeman.
Production on the film was first announced in late 2019, with Atlanta star Brian Tyree Henry seemingly set to lead the cast, only for him to later leave and be replaced by Boyega. Filming was set to begin in late 2020.
With only three months left until the premiere, Netflix has released the official They Cloned Tyrone trailer.
Netflix is banking on the success of They Cloned Tyrone
The official trailer for They Cloned Tyrone will appeal to audiences enamored with the variety of stories about our society, a trend that has become somewhat prominent of late.
They Cloned Tyrone looks to be another welcome addition to this recent leitmotif, and there is a strong possibility that once released, the film will become a real hit.
Given that John Boyega’s voice can be heard saying “it’s not me”, it seems that that corpse you can see in the trailer would be nothing more than a dead clone of his character. Even so, the truth may be otherwise, since we’ve already grown accustomed to deceptive marketing for the sake of drawing more attention to a production. Of course, we’ll see which one is the real one.
They Cloned Tyrone will premiere on Netflix on December 30. Until then, all we have to do is watch the trailer and try to draw our own conclusions about the plot.
