Air fryers are currently enjoying their hype, but I prefer a different tool for preparing snacks: sandwich makers have been with me for much longer than air fryers have even existed I think the delicacies produced are much more practical than air-fried food.

You probably know the Pavlovian reflex, right? In one experiment, Pavlov conditioned dogs to hear a sound before giving them food. From then on, the dogs started drooling as soon as they heard this noise – that was worth a Nobel Prize.

And what can I say, the Pavlovian reflex works. Growing up, I probably snacked on the Nutella sandwich a little too often while listening to The Cure and playing Betrayal at Krondor. If 10:15 Saturday Night is playing somewhere now, I start to drool. Even 30 years later.

• 200 g flour (preferably sifted beforehand)
• 1 tsp baking powder (leveled)
• 1 pinch of salt
• 200 ml milk
• Zest of ½ organic lemon
• for that Christmas feeling: a little cinnamon
