Chimpanzees are known for their cleverness, and scientists often test our distant ancestors with new ways to see how smart they are. This can often involve challenges or games, but few expected a chimp to be able to play something like Minecraft.
Enter Kanzi, a 42-year-old Bonobo who, in an effort to combine Des Moines’ Ape Cognition and Conservation Initiative with YouTuber ChrisDaCow, learned to play Minecraft. During the video, we see Kanzi making amazing progress, being rewarded for each new step he takes with peanuts, grapes and apples.
Apparently Kanzi not only enjoys playing the game, but he enjoys it even more when other people join in. I’d like to be the first to put myself forward if Kanzi wants to start a multiplayer server.
