The Oxford University Press has confirmed which word has been named the Word of the Year for 2023. As in the past, this honor usually does not fall to an impressive or truly amazing word, but rather to a term that has taken society and pop culture by storm throughout the calendar year, so it should come as no surprise that Rizz took the title for 2023.
The word is specifically described as: “(zn.) style, charm or attractiveness; the ability to attract a romantic or sexual partner.”
Rizz has beaten several other popular words over the past 12 months, including Swiftie, parasocial, situationship, de-influencing, heat dome, prompt and beige flag.
Do you think Rizz deserved to be named Word of the Year?
