Gun Interactive’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, an asymmetrical multiplayer horror title based on the famous slasher film, will be released May 25. The developer has released a new FAQ detailing everything players need to know. It is free on PC via Steam over the weekend, but availability is limited.
The PC requirements are pretty heavy and can be viewed below. To run the game at 1080p/60 FPS, you need an Intel Core i7, 16 GB of RAM and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070, while 4K/60 FPS requires a Core i9, 16 GB of RAM and an RTX 4090. You also need 30 GB of installation space and a solid-state drive (a hard drive works as a minimum).
No need to sign up – just put the game on your wish list and you will receive a notification when the technical test page goes live. If you are chosen, you will receive an email from Steam and the game’s store page will also be updated. It is worth noting that the technical test, unlike a beta, “is more focused on testing the load of the game and backend services, allowing our team to adjust the server load and make any adjustments before the game launches.”
Available content includes the Family House map with The Cook, The Hitchhiker and Leatherface playable as assassins, while the “victims” are Leland, Connie, Sonny and Ana. This is the latest build of the game, but not the final version, which will be released on Aug. 18 for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5 and PC. Stay tuned for more updates in the meantime.
