The Kia EV6 has won a prestigious award: what performance has it achieved

Kia EV6 defeated Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric and Hyundai Ioniq 5 to receive the award.

The Kia EV6 was chosen car of the year, which is an award that allows car journalists from 23 European countries to choose the best new vehicle in the last 12 months. Due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the jury decided not to count the votes of the Russian delegates. In announcing this decision, the organizers said that these votes would not have changed the ranking.

The Kia EV6 won this year’s award with 279 points from the jury. He defeated Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric by 265 points. Hyundai Ioniq 5 finished third with 261 points. The other finalists were Peugeot 308 with 191 points, Skoda Enyaq with 185 points, Ford Mustang Mach-E with 150 points and Cupra Born with 144 points.

This is the first time Kia has won the award. In the European WLTP assessment, EV is able to cover up to 528 kilometers. The brand offers the model in a variety of forms. For example, there are battery options of 58.0 and 77.4 kilowatt-hours. Rear and all-wheel drive models are available.

The all-wheel drive version is only available with a 77.4 kWh battery. With two electric motors, the power is 320 horsepower (239 kilowatts). The disadvantage of the extra power is that the estimated range decreases to 441 kilometers.

At the end of 2022, the US EV6 range expands to include the GT model. It also has a twin-wheel drive engine, but the output power increases to 576 horsepower (430 kilowatts). This allows the model to reach 100 kilometers per hour in less than 3.5 seconds.
