Bandai Namco has released a steady series of new trailers for Tekken 8 in recent weeks, with several characters confirmed for the game’s launch. Meanwhile, game director and series producer Katsuhiro Harada also recently answered questions from fans on Twitter to reveal more details about the upcoming fighting game.
Two crucial details that will make fans happy are that Tekken 8 will use rollback netcode and that it will have full cross-platform multiplayer at launch. Harada says the reason why these features were not officially announced by Bandai Namco before is that they are considered the norm in fighting games today, so making big announcements for these features made no sense.
Harada has also said that Tekken 8 will launch with “many more” characters than Capcom. If he is referring to the upcoming Street Fighter 6, that would mean Tekken 8 will have more than 18 characters at launch, which is the number used to confirm Capcom’s upcoming fighting game.
Tekken 8 is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. It does not yet have a release date, but Bandai Namco has said it will be released sometime before April next year.
