Just in time for Spyro’s 25th birthday, the Spyro Reignited Trilogy reached an epic milestone, with ten million fans around the world joining in the flame-throwing action.
The beloved platform game, originally developed by Insomniac and published by Sony, was received with great acclaim on PlayStation in September 1998. Fans quickly adopted the purple dragon as a new mascot worthy of Crash Bandicoot status, and a video game icon was born. Not only was the original launch a triumphant success, but the original soundtrack became a household name. The 49 tracks, created by drummer Stewart Copeland of The Police, have also become staples of the original games.
Toys for Bob launched the Spyro Reignited Trilogy in November 2018, which is a big part of the series’ 25-year history that includes fourteen games. This includes a series of Spyro-focused games, a reboot, three spin-offs and a collection – all of which received positive reviews. Spyro fans rejoiced when the original first three games received a remaster from Activision with Spyro Reignited Trilogy. The game did not disappoint, receiving high scores across the board for its attention to detail, timeless charm and stunning graphics, while remaining true to the original masterpiece.
Since its launch, the Spyro Reignited Trilogy released on multiple platforms, including PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC. In addition to remastering the game, Toys for Bob also remastered the original soundtrack, which Activision officially released on Spotify to celebrate the anniversary.
Twenty-five years later, the iconic franchise still has a huge following. Would you like to see the Spyro Reignited Trilogy Playing? Visit the official site for more information or to purchase the game. Check out the official soundtrack of Spyro Reignited Trilogy here.
