Spotify has confirmed to TechCrunch that it has been testing an AI playlist feature that will allow users to create playlists by selecting different prompts. Other than confirming that it is being tested, Spotify has not shared when the software will launch or how it will work.

TikTok user @robdad_ recently teased the feature in a video with the caption “I just randomly discovered Spotify’s ChatGPT?” In the video, he selects a new AI playlist option and is shown several suggested prompts. As with ChatGPT, it also looks like you can type your own set of actions to further customize your search.

While this feature seems very convenient and exciting, it’s probably best to gauge your hopes for now. A spokesperson for Spotify told TechCrunch: “We routinely run a number of tests. Some of those tests ultimately pave the way for our broader experience and others just serve as an important learning opportunity.”
