Seven planets visible in the night sky this week –

For the last time until 2040, seven planets will be visible in the night sky this week. The best chance you’ll probably get is Friday, but all week you’ll want to keep your eyes upward to see some of our neighboring planets.

You can see Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Mars with the naked eye, and you may need binoculars for Saturn, but for Uranus and Neptune you’ll need a telescope for the best view. The BBC recommends getting a good view of the horizon and clear skies to have the best chance of seeing the planets.

This phenomenon is known as a planetary parade and it is a rare sight. So if you want to see some planets this week, make sure you go somewhere where you can see the stars, and then try to spot the other planets that share our solar system.
