The latest update for Section 13, the sci-fi twin-stick roguelite shooter from Kakao Games and Ocean Drive Studio, brings a wave of mayhem, cosmic horror and all-new challenges. Formerly known as Blackout Protocol, the game is now even more intense, gruesome and action-packed than ever.
Players can put their teamwork to the test with the return of co-op, in which up to three workers can be sacrificed at once for “efficiency. Those who prefer to work solo can still play the expanded single-player experience, which of course has been approved (or at least nearly so) by the legal department.
Section 13’s facilities have also received a major upgrade, with new locations including the Laboratory, the Quarantine Chamber and an experimental procedurally generated level. And while there are absolutely no rumors that the interdimensional creatures have spread further, vigilance remains necessary.
Enemies are stronger than ever and get a hefty promotion, but fortunately new tactical gear is at the ready: an Energy Shield, Turret and 20 enhanced Synaptic Enhancements help players survive the dark threats. And if that’s not enough, Beaker finally returns to join the overworked but determined dream team of Scalpel, Boy Scout and Red.
